Understanding Holster Cant for OWB Holsters at ANR Design LLC
At ANR Design LLC, we understand that finding the perfect Outside-the-Waistband (OWB) holster involves more than just selecting the right firearm fit. One crucial aspect is the holster's cant, which refers to the angle at which your firearm sits in the holster. This article will guide you through understanding holster cant and how it impacts your draw, comfort, and concealment.
What is Holster Cant?
Cant is the angle of your holster relative to your belt line. It's measured in degrees and significantly influences how your firearm sits on your hip. Different cant angles offer varying benefits, depending on your body type, preferred carry position, and draw style.
Types of Cant Offered by ANR Design LLC:
ANR Design LLC primarily offers the following cant options for our OWB holsters (Also an option for Non-Lightbearing IWB):
- 0-Degree (Vertical/Straight Drop):
- This cant positions the firearm straight up and down.
- Ideal for competition shooting or open carry where speed is paramount.
- Offers a natural, straight draw.
- May be less comfortable for extended wear, especially for longer firearms, and can hinder concealment.
- 10-Degree Cant:
- This cant angles the firearm slightly forward.
- A popular choice for concealed carry, as it helps to minimize printing (the outline of the firearm showing through clothing).
- Facilitates a more natural and comfortable draw, especially for behind-the-hip carry.
- Balances speed and concealment effectively.
For OWB holsters cant may be adjusted by the customer afterwards. Whichever option is selected is how it will leave the factory.
